POS-PARTNER 2.24 - SCHEDULED PRODUCT DISCONTINUATION

To provide you with additional time to make the necessary business decisions regarding your upgrade strategy, Vital is extending service and support for POS-partner, version 2.24 to fourth quarter, 2006. As such, you have the choice to continue upgrading to POS-partner 2000 now and install the security update later, or wait for the full version containing the security update to become available.

As part of the product retirement strategy:

Vital will no longer distribute POS-partner, version 2.24 to new merchants, effective immediately
An important POS-partner 2000 update containing additional security features that support Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance is targeted for release in mid-2006

Note: The PCI data security standards and requirements apply to all Members, merchants, and service providers that store, process or transmit cardholder data.

The following table identifies and describes the options and associated timeline for upgrading to POS-partner 2000.

Option 1	Upgrade to current version of POS-partner 2000 to take advantage of existing security features now.
	Install POS-partner 2000 update containing security updates that support PCI compliance, scheduled for mid-2006 availability.
Option 2	Continue using POS-partner, version 2.24 until the POS-partner 2000 security update becomes available.
	Install full version of POS-partner 2000 containing security updates that support PCI compliance, scheduled for mid-2006 availability.

Note: To help mitigate risks and protect cardholder security, Vital recommends that merchants currently using POS-partner 2.24 who wish to take advantage of the additional security features in POS-partner 2000 continue the upgrade process.
