Note: Windows XP service pack 2 users: POS partner is supported on Windows XP SP2, with the following provisions: Windows XP SP2 installs and activates a Windows Firewall by default. This Windows Firewall must be disabled in order to install POS partner. Once POS partner is installed, the Windows Firewall must be configured to allow the Vital Application Console(appcon), and the Vital Application Progtramming Interface (API) to run internally. Once this is done, the Windows Firewall may be enabled and POS partner will function normally in a stand-alone environment (POS partner is not installed as a client/server application). If POS partner is to be installed in a client/server environment, the Windows Firewall must be disabled prior to installation, and cannot be re-enabled, in order for POS partner to function. These Windows Firewall settings are unrelated to any other hardware or software firewalls that may be in place. Note: When using POS-partner in a Database Server role, Vital recommends that the PC/Server Random Access Memory (RAM) is increased to improve Microsoft Database Engine (MSDE) performance.
